Scheduling Your Surgery |
- Your physician has discussed your surgery with you and
scheduled it with us.
- Be aware of any changes in your physical condition - such as
sore throat, cold, or fever prior to your surgery.
- Consult your physician if any changes occur.

The Night Before Your Surgery |
- Please do not eat or drink anything after midnight the night
before surgery: including gum, water, mints, or vitamins unless your anesthesiologist has
given you special instructions stating otherwise.
- This is very important for your safety.
- If you do not follow this rule, your procedure may have to
be delayed or rescheduled.
- If your child is having surgery, your anesthesiologist will
discuss special feeding instructions. If you are taking medications, your
anesthesiologist will give you instructions on what you should do.

The Morning of Your Surgery |
- DO NOT eat or drink anything in the morning, unless you have
been given special instructions stating otherwise.
- DO NOT wear jewelry or watches.
- DO wear comfortable clothing that you can change easily and
will not bind the site of your surgery.
- DO bring slippers.
- DO leave valuables at home.
- DO remember to bring your insurance card with you.
- DO be here one hour before your surgery (unless instructed
differently) to complete your admission forms, sign your consent, and to visit with your
anesthesiologist.
- Your anesthesiologist will discuss your procedure with you,
tell you exactly what will happen before, during, and after your surgery, and answer any
remaining questions you might have.
- DO bring a friend or family member to wait for you during
surgery.
- Persons under 18 years of age must have a parent or legal
guardian with them to sign the consent forms.

After Your Surgery |
- You will rest in our recovery room under the care of
specially trained nurses.
- Your anesthesiologist will monitor your condition.
- You may be sleepy or dizzy after your surgery.
- YOU MUST HAVE A RESPONSIBLE ADULT WITH YOU TO DRIVE YOU
HOME.
- Nurses and physicians will answer your questions and give
you instructions.
- You will receive a written copy of these instructions.
Please follow them carefully.
- Be prepared to go home and finish your recovery there.
- Have someone plan to stay at home with you through the
night.
- DO NOT make any important decisions, drive, or operate
machinery for 24-hours after your surgery.

When You Get Home |
- Patients often experience minor after effects following
anesthesia, such as drowsiness, muscle aches, a sore throat, headaches, or dizziness.
- Nausea may also be present, but vomiting is less common.
- These side effects decline rapidly in the hours following
surgery, but may take several days before they are gone completely.
- The majority of patients do not feel up to their typical
activities the next day, usually due to tiredness or surgical discomfort.
- Plan to take it easy for a few days until you feel back to
normal.
- Know that a period of recovery at home is common and is to
be expected.
- Contact your surgeon if you have questions about what you
can and cannot do, when you can return to work, and how active you can be.

Financial Responsibility |
- Billing for your surgery at The Menomonee Falls Ambulatory Surgery
Center is separate from your billing for surgeon's services, anesthesiology fee and/or pathology fee. Our
charges include the cost for your operating room, nursing staff, drugs and supplies for your surgery and
recovery.
- For your convenience, our billing office staff will file your medical
claim with your primary and secondary insurances for you. Please bring your insurance card(s) with you to
ensure proper billing. We suggest that you contact your insurance company to verify benefits and/or to
fulfill any pre-certification requirements your plan may have. This will help to avoid full patient
responsibility for charges.
- You may be required to pre-pay all or a portion of the facility fee
if your insurance company does not cover the surgery or if you have a large co-pay or deductible. We accept
MasterCard, VISA, American Express and Discover as well as cash or check. Patients not fully covered by their
insurance plans should call our office to make financial arrangements before the day of surgery. All accounts
are due within 90 days of service.

our Billing Office between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. at 262-250-0956.
